How to Register Your Kindle2 or Kindle DX at Amazon

  1. Press the Home key on Your Kindle screen to make sure you are on the Home screen.
  2. Press Menu.
  3. Select “Settings” from the menu.
  4. Move the cursor to the Account Name section and select “Register.” If its already registered to someone, click deregister, then click register.
  5. Enter the email address and password for you Amazon Account, then click
    “submit.”
  6. Wait for Kindle to process the request. The account name should appear when registration is successful. If it doesn’t appear, you may have to repeat the process.

Note: If you don’t have an Amazon.com account log-on to Amazon.com and create an account.

    I bought a kindle using my niece’s credit card and think it’s registered in her name – Amy Ellis – I’ve tried to register it but am told that wifi connectivity is required for this task. Am unsure whether I have such a thing or whether my laptop computer – bought in March 2011 – has this facility. My impression was that there would be no hurdles in registering the kindle to myself instead of my niece.
    Can you please advise me,

    I have acquired my daughter’s Kindle. How do I register it in my name?
