Crunch Pad looking to Carve out its Niche in the e-reader world!

Last summer, TechCrunch posted the article which began with  ”I’m tired of waiting – I want a dead simple and dirt cheap touch screen web tablet to surf the web…”

This device would be extremely thin, with headphone jack, low end hardward, video camera, microphone,  wi-fi, USB Support, built-in battery, 1/2 Gig. RAM,  4 Gig. harddrive, iPhone-like touch screen for data input, will run linux and Firefox…

That was eleven months ago…Working in Tandem with Singapore-based developers Fusion Garage, today TechCrunch has release a prototype of what this one-time conceptual device will look like..

…a product with iPhone-like “feel. “  Sleek and trim it will navigate the “net”  with a simple touch and roll of the finger.

Equipped with a 12″ screen  flush with the case and  a 18mm-thick aluminium casing -  is also ideal for reading  newspapers

…no mention of books or magazine, or e-ink type screen.

…perhaps the perfect companion for the google concecpt of an ereader. Google provides the books, TechCrunch provide the ideal mobile “net” device.
